Solana Beach Hosts Back-to-Back Bike Safety Events
Last week, Solana Beach was buzzing with back-to-back bike events! On Monday, July 29th, the San Diego County Bike Coalition (SDCBC) hosted an in-person workshop for seniors, covering everything from road rules to fall prevention. The momentum continued on Thursday, August 1st, with a surprise Bike Rodeo for the Summer Day Camp kids at La Colonia Park. Nearly 40 kids zoomed through interactive stations, tackled obstacle courses, learned essential safety tips, including the "ABCs" of bike riding, got their helmets fitted, and had their bikes inspected
“Kids don’t get a chance to learn about bike safety in school, so it’s important for them to get a chance to learn the rules,” said Karl Rudnick, a Solana Beach resident, BikeWalkSolana member and certified League of American Bicyclists instructor.
The City is committed to bike safety education for all ages, recognizing its crucial role in fostering a safer community. By offering specialized workshops for seniors and engaging activities for young riders. From the youngest cyclists to the most experienced, the City wants to make sure all riders are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for safe biking. These events not only address immediate safety concerns but also help build a culture of awareness and responsibility across generations.
