Current Exhibit: Greatly I Dream of Health, Healing, Hope, Music, & Autism
From March 10 through April 23, 2025, the Solana Beach City Hall Gallery proudly presents an exhibition featuring the vibrant and synesthesia-inspired works of Jeremy Sicile-Kira. As an autistic artist, Jeremy transforms his unique sensory experiences into colorful, energetic paintings that capture the spiritual essence of people, music, and life events. His work is deeply rooted in themes of hope and healing, offering viewers an opportunity to experience the emotions and energy he infuses into each piece.
About the Exhibit
This exhibit brings together paintings of people who inspire Jeremy Sicile-Kira, music that evokes positive emotions, and recent life events centered on hope and healing. Through his synesthesia-inspired artwork, Jeremy captures the spiritual essence and inner qualities of each subject, capturing the colors of hope, healing, and health. His mission is to help people heal through art, offering viewers the opportunity to feel the vibrant energy infused in each painting. In times when many may feel powerless, Jeremy hopes to remind others of their own strength and resilience.
Every April, Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month (ACCM) is celebrated in California, emphasizing the importance of the arts in fostering community wellness and recovery. The 2025 theme, Health, Healing, Hope, highlights how creative expression can inspire resilience. April is also nationally recognized as Autism Awareness Month, bringing attention to the experiences and contributions of autistic individuals.
Artist Statement
"Art has frankly given a meaning to my life. I am autistic and truly I lived in darkness until my mom taught me to communicate with a letterboard. In 2012 I told my mom about dreams I was having: dreams that I was painting the colors of people I had seen during the day. One night I had a different dream – I dreamt that I painted ten of my dreams in real life and had an art show. My mom, encouraged me to make this dream come true. Now I provide hope to others through my synesthesia-informed energetic paintings. In 2016 my first curated solo art show was covered by national and local media, resulting in a sold-out show and many private commissions.
Recent accomplishments include:
- PBS National Premiere of the Short Documentary “The Beautiful Colors of Jeremy Sicile-Kira” by Aaron Lemle;
- Teaching a virtual art class via the Guggenheim Museum
- Receiving an Achievement Award from the National Artists with Disabilities Center (NADC).
