Solana Beach Rocks with Kindness
Next time you’re out and about in Solana Beach, keep an eye out for something bright and cheerful – a painted rock with a message of kindness! These Kindness Rocks are part of a delightful community project that’s all about spreading positivity and building connections among neighbors.
The City of Solana Beach brought this project to life by hosting rock-painting booths at two of the community’s favorite events: Fiesta del Sol and the La Colonia Tot Lot Grand Re-Opening. Local residents of all ages got creative, painting their own unique designs on rocks. Some artists took their masterpieces home to start their own kindness rock gardens, while others donated their colorful creations to the City’s official kindness rock gardens.
So, where can you find these little bursts of joy? Head over to La Colonia Park or the Pinion sculpture at the corner of N. Cedros Avenue and E. Cliff Street, where these kindness rocks now have a special place. These gardens aren’t just a feast for the eyes – they’re a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big impact.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! The City is inviting everyone to check out these kindness rock gardens and chime in with ideas for where the next one should be. Whether it’s a park, a school, or a hidden corner of town, the goal is to keep the kindness spreading.
This Kindness Rock beautification project is just one piece of Solana Beach’s larger commitment to kindness. Back in 2019, the City adopted a resolution to become a “City of Kindness,” pledging to foster a culture of caring across all parts of the community – from City government to schools, businesses, and beyond.
So next time you’re strolling through town, take a moment to appreciate the kindness that’s quite literally been set in stone. And who knows? You might be inspired to join the movement and paint a rock of your own!
