Friends of the Solana Beach Library 2025 Scholarship Program

The Friends of the Solana Beach Library announces the launch of the 2025 Scholarship Award Program. This year, five (5) $1,000scholarships for higher education are offered  to graduating high-school seniors, continuing students, or students returning to school after a gap.

Each scholarship is a one-time award to be used for education at a community college, a four-year college or university, a graduate/professional school or a technical/vocational/career school. The scholarship money may be used for tuition, books, fees, room and board or other related educational expenses.   

Each applicant must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher for the three most recent years for which a GPA is available. Consideration will be given to financial need, GPA, participation in extracurricular and community activities, awards and other recognition. 

An application form for the 2025 Friends Scholarship (in PDF format for printing) and also a list of answers to frequently asked questions are available for downloading from the Friends website: www.friendsofsolanabeachlibrary.org/scholarships. Also, printed application forms and FAQs are available at the Solana Beach library in a display at the book check-out station. 

Students must complete and submit the application forms by April 30, 2025, along with an essay, a permission form and a letter of recommendation. More specific information is included in the scholarship application form. 

Ways to submit completed application:

1. Deliver to a librarian at the Solana Beach Library.
2. Scan or photograph completed pages of application and combine into single pdf or submit as separate single-page images, attached to an email to FOSBL2025@AOL.com. This email address can also be used for scholarship-related questions.
3. Mail to Friends of the Solana Beach Library, Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 194, Solana Beach, CA 92075.
