High Surf Advisory
This winter season’s first round of dangerous high surf is forecasted for Sunday, December 22nd – Thursday, December 26th. Waves at west-facing breaks (Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas) could reach as high as 15 to 20 feet!
Lifeguards recommend that only expert surfers enter the ocean during these conditions. Please know your limits!
Rip currents, longshore currents, and large surges of water will be extremely hazardous. Please use caution when walking along the berm and lower beach while you are visiting and keep an eye out for large surges of water associated with large sets of waves.
Here is the current forecast:
December 22nd and 23rd is forecasted to be 2 feet overhead upwards of double overhead.
December 24th and 25th 15’-20’ and December 26th again double overhead. When in doubt, talk to a lifeguard about beach and water safety.
