Fire Safety Reminders for Fourth of July
We want to remind everyone that all fireworks, including sparklers and poppers, are banned from use in Solana Beach, Encinitas, and Del Mar.
Fireworks can be unpredictable and pose serious risks, accounting for 44% of burn injuries in the month of July. Children between the ages of 10-14 had the highest rate of fireworks injury. Fireworks can also ignite structures and spark brushfires, jeopardizing lives and properties. According to the National Fire Protection Association, over 19,500 reported fires are ignited by fireworks annually. It is important to recognize these dangers, especially while California is in the midst of wildfire season.
To enjoy the dazzling displays safely, we encourage you to attend public fireworks shows at Legoland or the San Diego County Fair. These professional displays are conducted under controlled conditions, ensuring a spectacular and secure experience for everyone.

While on the topic of 4th of July fire safety, we also would like to ask everyone to be mindful of Solana Beach’s guidelines for fires on the beach. Please ensure your fire is contained within a city-approved fire device that is no wider than 3 feet, elevated off the ground, and has a solid metal bottom with sides to enclose the fire. Being cautious and responsible allows everyone to continue enjoying our beautiful beaches.
