Electric Landscape Equipment Funding Available For Professional Landscapers
Calling All Professional Landscapers! Trade in your gas powered equipment and get cash for new electric equipment!
In February, the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District launched the Electric Landscape Equipment Assistance Fund (E-LEAF), offering a streamlined approach to reducing emissions. This initiative enables professional landscapers to replace their existing combustion lawn and garden equipment with cordless, zero-emission electric alternatives. Leaf blowers fall under the category of small off-road engines (SORE), which also includes various other lawn and garden equipment. Remarkably, California hosts more SOREs (15.4 million) than light-duty passenger cars (14.0 million). Operating a commercial leaf blower for just one hour equates to driving a new light-duty passenger car for approximately 1100 miles – roughly the distance from Solana Beach to Portland, Oregon! Due to this issue, the use of two-stroke gas-powered leaf blowers has been banned within Solana Beach city limits since 2011.
