Annual Citywide Pavement Rehabilitation Project
The Annual Citywide Pavement Rehabilitation Project has started, beginning with concrete repairs and replacements. Asphalt pavement repairs and resurfacing has been scheduled to begin on October 14th.
Please use caution while traveling through the construction zones and keep an eye out for any construction traffic and detour signs put in place.
At East Solana Circle, the cross gutter will be replaced, which will require traffic to be temporarily detoured to West Solana Circle. This is scheduled for September 30 to October 3 with possible early opening of October 2. Appropriate traffic detour signs and an electronic message board will be placed near the work zone to inform the community about the construction activities.
A map of all areas to be repaired as part of this project can be found here.
In 2021, a City-wide pavement condition assessment was performed to determine the most effective way to budget, repair, replace and preserve City street pavements. Based upon this condition assessment report, the consultant that prepared the assessment developed a priority list for the City’s pavement repairs and maintenance. This list was used to select street segments for this year’s street maintenance and repair program.
At the April 24, 2024, City Council meeting, the Council approved the list of streets for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023/24 Street Maintenance and Repairs Project and authorized the City Engineer to advertise for construction bids.
In addition to the pavement resurfacing shown on the referenced map, this year’s project includes the following:
- Replacement of deteriorated cross gutters and sidewalks.
- Replacement of pedestrian ramps to current requirements.
- Localized pavement repairs (digouts) throughout the City.
- Repainting faded traffic striping at selected locations.
- Replacement of damaged sidewalks.
- Installation of speed cushions at undetermined locations, if approved under Council policy.
