Utility Box Artwork Installations
The City of Solana Beach is dedicated to nurturing a vibrant and artistic community. To continue expanding on its ongoing mission, the City initiated the Solana Beach Utility Box Wrap Project, inviting artists of all kinds – including graphic designers, photographers, and illustrators – to participate by creating artistic wraps for select utility boxes. The goal was to use art to transform ordinary infrastructure into public works of art.
After a competitive selection process overseen by the members of the Solana Beach Public Arts Commission, six artists were chosen to design artwork for wrapping seven utility and traffic signal boxes across six different locations along Lomas Santa Fe Drive and the Coastal Rail Trail. These selected designs were officially installed last week, and the City is proud to present them to the community!
