New Permanent Art Piece Rio
The City's permanent Public Art Collection just got bigger and better! You may have already seen the newest permanent art piece Rio, by Richard Harmetz, at the Tide Park beach access located at the corner of Pacific Avenue and Solana Vista Drive. This beautiful bronze statue was on loan to the City for one year as part of the City's 2022 Temporary Public Art Program rotation.
Since its arrival in November 2021, the community's response to Rio has been overwhelmingly positive and resulted in Mr. Harmertz generously offering to donate his art piece to the City's permanent art collection. Located at a popular local beach access, Rio has several notable features that perfectly fit its location. The City is extremely appreciative of this donation and would like to send a special thanks to Mr. Harmertz for his generosity. The Rio is a welcome addition to the City’s growing public art collection.
