Congratulations to Mayor Lesa Heebner on Becoming SANDAG Chair!
We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Solana Beach’s very own Mayor Lesa Heebner has been unanimously elected as the new Chair of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Board of Directors! Mayor Heebner brings over 20 years of dedicated service to Solana Beach and 14 years of experience as a primary SANDAG Board member, including two years as Second Vice Chair.
Mayor Heebner’s election marks a significant milestone not only for her but for our entire community. In her new role, she will lead the region’s efforts to plan, build, and provide critical infrastructure that benefits all of San Diego County. With her commitment to collaboration, transparency, and community-focused leadership, we are confident that Mayor Heebner will guide SANDAG in addressing important regional challenges, including transportation improvements, infrastructure projects, and sustainability initiatives.
Upon her election, Mayor Heebner expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am honored to lead the organization in its mission to plan, build, and provide critical infrastructure and resources for the San Diego region. I’ll do my very best to bring this board together and make sure the public is heard as we tackle the important issues facing our communities.”
As Chair, Mayor Heebner succeeds former San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Nora Vargas. She will work alongside newly elected Vice Chair Joe LaCava, President of the San Diego City Council, and Second Vice Chair John Minto, Mayor of Santee. Together, this leadership team is poised to make a meaningful impact across the region.
This achievement is not just a proud moment for Mayor Heebner but also for the City of Solana Beach. Her leadership on the SANDAG Board reflects the values and dedication of our city to creating a better, more connected future for everyone.
Please join us in congratulating Mayor Heebner on this remarkable accomplishment! We look forward to seeing her leadership shine as she represents Solana Beach and the entire region in this important role.
