SBCC Monthly Lecture: Explaining End of Life Choices
Solana Beach Community Connections (SBCC) presents “Explaining End of Life Choices” with Judy Schnack on Tuesday, June 18 at La Colonia Park Community Center, beginning at 5:30 PM. Learn more about Advanced Care Planning including tips for having a conversation about your end-of-life wishes with physicians and loved ones.
Are you overwhelmed? Talking about death is difficult, however, everyone has the right to explore their options and experience a peaceful death. Suppose you’ve been diagnosed with a chronic or terminal illness. Or you have no further treatment options, treatments are no longer effective, and you’ve been advised you have six months or less to live.
Learn about the resources for end-of-life options available to any Californian seeking help navigating a chronic or terminal illness. End of Life Choices California (EOLCCA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides this information and offers non-judgmental guidance through a dedicated team of volunteers free of charge.
Judy Schnack, our speaker, volunteered her services to End of Life Choices California in 2019, shortly after the nonprofit was organized. A resident of Encinitas for more than 40 years, Judy is a retired Family Nurse Practitioner. Her background includes caring for HIV/AIDS individuals at UC San Diego Healthcare and Veterans Administration for over fifteen years. In 2008, she started working with Hospice of the North Coast and in 2017, Judy began volunteering at Pacifica House, an in-patient hospice in Carlsbad. She gives informational presentations to California residents about the support provided to successfully navigate end-of-life options.
Come at 5:30 PM on June 18 with your questions and to learn more about end-of-life options. This presentation is open to the public and is free of charge at the La Colonia Community Center located at 715 Valley Avenue, in Solana Beach.
