Fletcher Cove Beach Access Ramp and Dissipater Grate Replacement

Fletcher Cove Improvements Project Begins Construction:

We’re excited to share that construction for the Fletcher Cove Improvements Project will begin after Labor Day weekend and continue through December 2025. This project, made possible by Measure S funding, will enhance one of our community’s most treasured spaces.

The Fletcher Cove Improvements include:

  • The replacement of the beach access ramp, including the concrete ramp, the asphalt concrete walkway immediately south of the ramp, the concrete curb, and the metal handrailing.
  • The replacement of the dissipater storm drain grate at the bottom of the ramp
  • Improvements to the current shower area, including the drainage and expansion of number of shower heads
  • New shower area at the bottom of the ramp for easy post-beach cleanups

Beach access will remain open throughout construction, ensuring the community can continue to enjoy Fletcher Cove while these upgrades are underway.

Signage will also be posted to keep everyone updated during the project timeline.

Project Background:

The Fletcher Cove Beach Access Ramp and Dissipater Grate Improvements consist of the replacement of the beach access ramp, the dissipater grate at the bottom of the ramp, and improvements to the shower area, including the drainage and expansion of number of shower heads. The ramp replacement includes replacing the concrete ramp, the asphalt concrete walkway immediately south of the ramp, the concrete curb and the metal handrailing.

The existing dissipator grate was installed in approximately 1998, as part of the North County Transit District (NCTD) Train Station project and associated drainage work. Due to the ocean weather and salt water, the dissipator grate is corroding and needs to be replaced. A consultant prepared plans, specifications, and a cost estimate for removal and replacement of the beach access ramp and dissipator grate, and improvements to the shower area at Fletcher Cove.
