About the Exhibit
This combined exhibit features two distinct bodies of work. "For the Love of Textiles + Art" by Sherri Scott and "A Few Less Words" by Keelee Lovaas. Sherri’s work showcases atmospheric landscapes inspired by the outdoors, capturing the dynamic interplay of land and sea at different times of day. The textile pieces add a new dimension, engaging viewers both visually and tactilely, with a functional quality that encourages a deeper connection. Keelee’s artwork explores the material's inherent logic, emphasizing the contrast between structure and unraveling, and examining what naturally takes shape when left to their own devices.
"A Few Less Words" explores the materials that drive their own logic. This artist leans into contrast: the spaces between structure and unraveling. She is interested in following what wants to take shape—because art, when left to its own devices, always does. "For the Love of Textiles + Art" showcases atmospheric landscapes inspired by the artist’s exploration of the outdoors, where she finds inspiration in the captivating elements of land and sea. Each piece highlights the intricate interplay of the landscape during different times of the day. The textile art is a new exploration and the art takes on another level of engagement, offering both a tactile and functional aspect that invites viewers to connect with the work in multiple senses. Through this exhibit the artist aims to evoke a sense of peace and appreciation for the natural world, reminding us of the transformative power of our surroundings.
Artist Statements
Sherri Scott
Over the past decade, Sherri has immersed herself in the intricate world of fashion and product design, where the delicate balance between creativity, innovation and sustainability is not just a goal but a necessity. More than a year ago, she made a deliberate pivot into the art world—a transition that had long beckoned her. This new direction allows her to approach design with a unique perspective rooted in both technical skill and creative vision. This artistic adventure has led her to create artwork for several gallery exhibitions, permanent public art installations, graphics for a music festival, and a special project for a new Arizona fire station. She feels very fortunate to be in the arts, and is working on giving back. Sherri has written grants that have funded two art festivals, and is also a gallery board member.

Keelee Lovaas
Rooted in curiosity and the interplay between control and unpredictability, Keelee’s work explores forms that are both familiar and unknowable, whole yet unresolved. Mediums are always shifting, but the focus for her remains on the interaction between them—sometimes in balance, sometimes in contrast. Her works focusing more on existing and less on explaining.
